| Harness Nature FAQs Q: I have lots of questions about wind, solar, geothermal, or other services and products, who should I contact? A: If you have already been working with a rep from Harness Nature, then give them a call. If you have not been working with anyone, call us at 877-414-4646 and press extension 806 for the Sales Dept. You can also email us. At Harness Nature, we don’t believe there is any such thing as a “dumb” question. One of our company goals is to educate and explain. In fact, we are constantly being asked to give talks and seminars, which we are more than happy to do. Q: Is interconnection with my electric utility included? A: The interconnection agreement is between you and the electric utility. Having experience in these matters, we are more than happy to guide you through the process. Harness Nature will fill out the interconnection application for you, but you must sign it, and pay the application fee (if any). The Utility will then make an engineering study of their grid at your location. In rare instances, the utility may find that improvements or upgrades could be required to interconnect your renewable energy source to the grid. Any upgrades required are at your expense. Q: Does Harness Nature provide financing for my project? A: We do not. Harness Nature is a renewable energy systems company. Many of our competitors offer loan programs, but we try to keep your costs down. We recommend going through your local banker…someone you know and can trust. There are Local, State and Federal loan, grant and rebate programs available, and we will be sure to make you aware of these, and guide you through the applications for them. Q: Why is it so expensive to insure a wind turbine? A: It is not expensive. Most utilities will require a minimum of $1 million of liability insurance. As far as replacement insurance, most insurers will treat the wind turbine just like any other structure on your property. It should be no different than erecting another building. Most insurers have become familiar with wind turbines. If you get a price that seems too high, it may be time to go shopping. Adding a renewable energy system to your existing homeowners, farm, or business insurance should be minimal. Q: What about all the horror stories I hear about bird kills, shadow flicker and ice throws? A: The American Wind Energy Association has a very good publication called “Wind Power Myths vs. Facts” that can answer all of these questions, but the short version is that the great majority of the bad things you hear about wind turbines are unfounded. Q: I have hired contractors before, and they left a huge mess! What about Harness Nature? A: Construction can be a messy business. Our policy is this: We police up the job site at the end of every day. Materials on your property will be neatly stacked in an area that is not in your way. On the last day we are on site, we haul all materials and scrap away, however there is always a few yards of dirt left. This will be left on site, just let us know where you want it…perhaps that low spot in the yard, or just set off to the side for future use. Your safety and our safety is the most important job we have. Moving heavy equipment and trucks around the site will undoubtedly do some damage to the ground. When we backfill the foundation and wire trench, we will also fill and grade any ruts we created. It will be up to the customer to do a final raking and seeding. Q: I have had all my questions answered, my proposal looks good and I am ready to move forward. How do I proceed? A: Simply sign and date the acceptance portion of the proposal, and mail a copy of it, along with a check for the deposit amount to our office. We will contact you when it arrives, and mail back a receipt for the amount. Q: What happens if I want to cancel my order? A: Harness Nature tries to be as fair as possible if this should occur. If you would like to cancel the agreement, Harness Nature will refund 100% of your deposit, providing you notify us within 10 business days from the time you mail the signed proposal and deposit check. Should you find it necessary to cancel after this time period, the cancellation fee from our vendors varies from a low of about 30% to as high as 50%. Ph 515-987-0518 • Fax 515-987-0509
